The Hawaii Beef Industry Council (HBIC) is an non-profit organization working for the cattle producers of Hawaii in areas of education, promotion and research.
In this episode of our Voices of the Outdoors series, professional surfer Ian Walsh and Haleakala Ranch’s Jordan Jokiel have a candid conversation about land management, grazing pastures and how cattle ranchers positively impact the surf quality in Hawai’i. While their professions are vastly different, Ian and Jordan learned that we are all connected. We all have an important role to play in making the land – ‘aina – a better place for everyone. Located on Maui, Haleakala Ranch is a family-owned operation that was first established in 1888. Nine generations later, Haleakala Ranch has become one of the greatest examples of stewardship and land conservation in the Hawaiian ranching community.
